National statistics show that, nationwide, homeowners are able to build a net worth approximately 40 times nigher than that of renters. The disparity could be even greater in the Bay Area. Our team works with many first-time homebuyers and we sincerely understand how challenging it can be to buy your first home. (We were once first-time homebuyers too!) Given that the average annual appreciation across the nation has been 4% per year nationally (6.2% locally), and given the value of leverage that most buyers are able to utilize when buying their first home, we concur with the advice of American billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson : "If you don't own a home, buy one. If you own a home, buy another one. If you own two homes, buy a third. And lend your relatives the money to buy a home."
